A three-day, 1,300-mile adventure motorcycle race that begins in San Antonio, Texas and pushes south. Through the border, into dusty towns, over mountain roads, and toward the far edge of the Pacific, where Michoacán meets the sea.

This year’s route leads to Maruata, a small surf town on the coast of Michoacán: remote, raw, and nearly hidden from view. It is both destination and mirage, the kind of place that feels less discovered than arrived at by instinct. Along the way, the film moves through one of Mexico’s most under-recognized mezcal-producing regions, tracing a geography shaped as much by cultural depth as by distance.

This is the fourth Mezcal Moto Rally, yet something shifts here. The stakes feel less defined by speed than by intention. To win, it is not enough to be the fastest rider, or even the most technically skilled. What matters is resourcefulness and the ability to think quickly, adapt, improvise, and keep moving through the unknown.

Each rider seems to arrive with a different reason for being there. For some, it is the pursuit of the finish. For others, it feels like escape, or surrender, or a chance to step outside the logic of everyday life. For some, the journey into Mexico carries the force of a return. A homecoming to a place that feels deeply familiar, even if the road there remains uncertain.

The documentary follows that tension between race and reckoning, between movement and meaning. It captures a landscape of dust, coastline, fatigue, beauty, risk, and the private motivations that unfold somewhere between departure and arrival.
